S.S.C. Leif Ericson

The Leif Ericson was designed by the late Matt Jefferies (designer of the USS Enterprise) for a line of AMT plastic model kits in 1968. Called Strategic Space Command. Only the Leif Ericson ever made it into production. The kit was never popular, and eventually was discontinued. The kit was later re-released as the "glow in the dark" Interplanetary UFO. Which also did not last very long.
Since then the model kit has become somewhat of a cult favorite. Round 2 has re-released both versions of the model kit. I have two kits myself.

The 3d model is an attempt to replicate the classic plastic model kit. She is colored exactly how i painted my kit (will upload pics later). The ships markings, and hangar interior were scanned directly from my kits decal set. She does have a functional hangar bay with animated doors. The model is still a WIP. There are some things that can be improved on her.
